BIOGRAPHY OF NORVAL TED WHITE 

John Calvin White was married to Willie B. Fisher and from this union there were four children who survived.  These children were Clifford, Leola, Thomas William (T. W.) and Lorene.  Willie B. Fisher died in childbirth.   

John Calvin White later married Eldora Alberta Lewis. From this union there were two children born.  These children were Alma Jo White (who died at birth) and Norval Ted White. 

Ted was born on August 4, 1926 in Brownfield, Texas.  Ted graduated from Brownfield High School in 1943 at the age of 16. World War II was raging at this time and most of the graduating class walked across the stage and into the army.  Since Ted was only 16 he was too young to go into the service.  His mother told him that he should go to college a year and then when he reached 17 she would sign for him to volunteer into the Navy.  Ted enrolled in Texas Technological College in Lubbock Texas immediately. After one year of college he went into the Navy where he served as a radar operator on board the USS Geneva (a troop transport). Ted's service career took him all over the South Pacific and Asia.  His ship was at Okinawa when the war ended. 

Upon returning to Texas, Ted reentered Texas Tech in May of 1946 and completed his undergraduate degree in Business Administration in twenty four months. 

Ted graduated in the summer of 1948. During the summer of 1948, Ted met Mary Beth Myrtle Baker on a blind date in Sterling City, Texas.  They were married on September 24, 1949 in San Angelo, Texas. 

Four children were born to this union.  Debra,  lived only four days.  Martha, Mary, John.

Ted started his business career in 1948 as a clerk with Magnolia Petroleum Company in Kermit, Texas. After 2 year with Magnolia he moved to Odessa, Texas and spent several years as a salesman for an Office Supply firm. His next job was as a stockbroker for the firm of Eppler Guerin and Turner where he stayed 2 years.  He then was offered a job as manager of The West Texas Association of Credit Management (a credit reporting agency).  While working at the reporting agency Ted was offered a position as Director of Credit for Drilco Oil Tools (an Oilfield Supply Company in Midland, Texas.) 

In 1968 Drilco Oil Tools was bought by Smith International, Inc. Irvine California. Smith had offices all over the world as well as all over the United States.  A few years after the buyout, Ted and his family moved to Houston, Texas where he remained until he retired in 1991. Ted had finally found his nitch, as Director of Credit for an International Company. This afforded Ted the opportunity to travel worldwide.  He spent the 28 years traveling all over the world as well as the United States.
