Orval J Fusselman, 91, of Summers AR, died Dec 17 in Woodland Manor.
Born July 11, 1897 in Cincinnati AR, he was the son of Oliver Malcomb
Fusselman and Emma Smith Fusselman and had been a life-time area
resident. Mr Fusselman was a retired farmer. He was a member of the
Holiness faith.
Survivors include his wife Fannie Fusselman of the home; one daughter,
Wanda Cantrel of Siloam Springs; one step-daughter Verna Walker of
Summers AR; one brother Virgil Fusselman of Summers AR; one sister,
Ithyl Morrow of Gentry; one grandson Darrell Walker of Springdale;
two great-grand-daughters; and one step great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were Dec 19 in Wasson Memorial Chapel with the Rev
J.W. Walker officiating. Burial was in Old Union Cemetery in Cincinnati
AR under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home.

Alton Lloyd Cantrel, 83, of Siloam Springs, Ark, died June 4, 2009, at
Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs, Ark. Born July 17,
1925 in Norwood Community, Washington County, Ark, he was the son of Alva
L. Cantrel and Edna Elizabeth Griffin Cantrel. He was an Army Veteran of
World War II. Alton was a farmer. On May 1, 1948, he married Wanda Faye
Fusselman in Siloam Springs, Ark.
Survivors include his wife Wanda of the home; one son, Eugene Cantrel and
wife Jo of Siloam Springs, Ark; two grandchildren, Lisa Barrett and
husband Brian of Gravette, Ark, and Julie Burden and husband Jon of
Cincinnati, Ark; five great-grandchildren, Lacy Barrett and Paige Barrett
of Gravette, Ark, and Cole Burden, Casey Burden and Caden Burden, all of
Cincinnati, Ark.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2009, Wasson Memorial
Chapel, Siloam Springs, Ark, with Tim Dirckson officiating. Burial will
follow at Norwood Cemetery, south of Siloam Springs, Ark. Public viewing
will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2009.

Funeral services for Clyde Henry Fusselman, 83, of Sallisaw OK were
Tuesday Sept 9, 1986 at 2pm at Hart Memorial Chapel in Westville with
Rev Robert L Polvado officiating. Burial was in Norwood Cemetery near
Cincinnati AR under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Westville.
Pallbearers were nephews.
He was born Dec 25, 1902 in Arkansas to Oliver Macomb and Emma Smith
Fusselman. He died Sept 5 at Sequoyah Manor Nursing Home in Sallisaw.
He was a retired carpenter and a member of the 1st Assembly of God
Church of Sallisaw. He was married to Irene Myrtle Cantrel on Nov 30,
1924. He was preceded in death by one son Paul in 1979.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; two brothers Orval Fusselman
and Virgil Fusselman, both of Summers AR; one sister Ithyl Morrow of
Gentry AR; one granddaughter Arlinda Phillips of Claremore OK and six
great-grandchildren.

SUMMERS -- Virgil James Fusselman, 96, of Summers died Nov 10, 2003, at
Siloam Springs. He was born Feb 18, 1907, in Cincinnati to Oliver Macom
and Emma Smith Fusselman. He was a lifetime resident of Summers and was
a dairy farmer. He was a member of the board of Old Union Cemetery,
Weddington Missionary Baptist Church and a former member of the Summers
Missionary Baptist Church and the Cincinnati Masonic Lodge 102 for 57
years. His wife, Clarice Randolph Fusselman, died in 1998.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Davis and husband Harrison of
Summers and Velma Surles and husband Jerry of Fayetteville; three
grandchildren, Tim Davis of Fayetteville, Steven Surles of Broken Arrow,
Okla., and Kim Groves of Cookeville, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam
Springs with the Rev. Phil Misenheimer officiating.Burial will be in Old
Union Cemetery.
Mason rites will be conducted by Cincinnati Mason Lodge 102.

Funeral services for Mrs Eva Wilson, aged 74 years, who died Friday
evening in Siloam Springs Hospital was held Tuesday afternoon in the Roberts
Funeral Chapel, Elder Earl Odle officiating.
A quartette from the New Hope church furnished the music.
Mrs Wilson was born in Washington County AR. She had been in will health
since her husband's death in February 1949, but grew worse in the past few
months. She with her husband and family have lived in the Westville community
many years. The large group of relatives and friends who attended the funeral
service with the many floral offering was testimony of the love and esteem
for her.
Survivors are: Five daughters, Mrs Elsie Hulett, Osage; Mrs Clarice Mitchell,
Tulsa; Mrs Mable Hart, Skiatook, Mrs Oberia Lindersmith, and Mrs Hazel Parker,
Red Bluff, CA; three sons, Earl, Richmond CA; Edgar, Locust Grove; and Clark,
Wedington AR; Four sisters, Mrs John McCuistion, Mrs Ad Cabe, Mrs Emma
Fusselman, and Mrs Ethel Giles; two brothers Albert Smith, Gravette AR; and
Tom Smith, Westville. Burial was at Weddington AR.

of Siloam Springs on Mosley's Prairie were held Wednesday afternoon in the

ROGERS--Helen Louise Wilson, 59, of Rogers died Jan. 2, 2004, at St. Mary's
Hospital. She was born Dec. 7, 1944, in Siloam Springs to Charles "Clark" and
Cherrie Azilee Wilson.
Survivors include her mother; one brother, Charles C. Wilson of Springdale,
and two sisters, Elizabeth Walker and Carolyn Sagely, both of Rogers.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Temple Baptist Church in Rogers with
Charles C. Wilson and Ron Fields officiating. Burial will be at 12 p.m. at
Wedington Cemetery in Wedington. Arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of
Rogers.
Pallbearers will be Alan Walker, Carl Walker, Doug Sagely, Tony Sagely, Jeff

Funeral Service for Mrs Lizzie Cabe, 80, was held Sunday afternoon at
3:30 in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev Howard L Kitchen Pastor of
the Westville Methodist Church officiating. Mrs Charles Brooks and Mrs
John Allen accompanied by Mrs Robert Effenberger, sang "In the Garden"
and "Rock of Ages".
Mrs Cabe died Friday, January 2, following an extended illness. She was
born December 29, 1878 near Cincinnati AR the daughter of Mr and Mrs J.B.
Smith.
At the home of her parents August 25, 1895 she and Add L Cabe were
married, with the Rev J.T. Humphrey, Methodist pastor of Cane Hill AR
performing the ceremony. They immediately established their home in the
Cincinnati community where they lived until they moved to Westville
Community about 40 years ago.
They were the parents of four children, two of whom preceded, Clyde,
October 6, 1897 at the age of 15 months and James Clinton, Dec 7, 1917 at
the age of 19. Mr and Mrs Cabe celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary
in 1955. A dinner observing the occasion was given in the home of her
brother, the late Tom Smith and Mrs Smith.
She was a member of the Methodist church and the Eastern Star. Interment
was in the Cincinnati Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Fueral Home.
The survivors include her husband Add L Cabe, Westville; one daughter
(Gladys) Mrs Grant Edwards of ElPaso TX; one son Troy Lee Cabe of Higgins
TX; a brother Albert Smith, Maysville AR; three sisters, Mrs Emma
Fusselman, Cave Springs AR; Mrs George Giles of Tahlequah, and Mrs John
McCuistion of Westville; Two granddaughters Mrs Dick Detriche of Higgins
TX and Mrs Jack Carmichael of Goodwill OK; two great-granddaughter Ann

Ruth Smith, 95, of Midland, TX died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011 in the Hospice
of Midland In-Patient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan.
16, 1916 in Washington County, Ark. to Joe and Freddie Lamons. On May 12,
1935 she married Russell Smith. They lived in Cincinnati, AR for two years
before moving to Siloam Springs where they lived until Russell's death on
Oct. 10, 1982. Ruth continued to live there until she moved to Midland in
1997 where she lived at Polo Park Estates Retirement Home and The Vogel
Center at Manor Park.
Ruth attended school in Cincinnati, AR and Westville, OK where she
graduated from Westville High School. She worked toward a teaching
certificate at Northeastern Oklahoma University. She taught three years in
Nicodemus, a one-room country school in Benton County, AR. She did
substitute teaching in the Siloam Springs School District for many years.
While living in Siloam Springs, Ruth was active in the First United
Methodist Church, the Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the
local chapter of AARP.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; son, Harold Dale
Smith; sisters, Winnie Russell, Helen Griffin, Betty Bean, and Virginia
Lamons; and brothers-in-law, Paul Russell and Denton Bean.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and John Moreland
of Midland, TX; grandchildren, John Russell Moreland (Janella) of Belfair,
WA, Patricia Hicks (Donnie) of Lubbock, TX, Michael Smith (Kris) of White
Bear, MN, and Kelly Smith (Jeff) of Berea, KY. She is also survived by a
brother-in-law, Sam Griffin of Summers, AR; daughter-in-law, Judy Smith,
of White Bear, MN; and great-grandchildren, David Hicks, Katie Hicks,
Justin Smith, Nathan Smith, Nathan Richey, Colin Richey, and Zenith
Savary.
The family expresses deep appreciation for the care given to Ruth by Dr.
Shylesh Ganta for many years. Appreciation is also given to Hospice of
Midland, The Vogel Center at Manor Park, and to the many friends who
supported the family during her long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
A visitation will be held at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, AR
on Friday, Oct. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held
Saturday, Oct. 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Dr. Jarrell
Sharp of Denton, TX.

Funeral service for Tom W Smith, 72, was held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 in
the Methodist church at Cincinnati AR with the Rev Edwin Dodson pastor of
the Methodist church, Siloam Springs, AR and Rev Paden, pastor of the
Christian church officiating.
A quartet composed of Mrs Frank Moss, Mrs Walter Carlton, Mrs Calvin Phillips
and George Guthrie accompaniead by Mrs John Bunnell sang "How Beautiful
Heaven Must Be" and "We Shall Meet Some Day". Rev Herman Paden sang "Beyond
The Sunset".
Mr Smith died Sunday night at 6 in the Siloam Spring Memorial Hospital, where
he had been a patient for three weeks, however he had been ill for several
months. He was born August 23, 1885 at Cincinnati, the son of Jim and Martha
Hamblin Smith and had spent his life in that community until seven years ago,
when he moved to Westville. He was retired, but had formerlly been in the
grocery business. He was a member of the Methodist church.
On February 17, 1907 he and Miss Rebecca Farley were married and to this
union, three sons were born. Mrs Smith preceeded him in death October 21, 1946.
He was married to Mrs Lillie Smith of Westville November 20, 1951.
Burial was in the Old Union cemetery at Cincinnati under the direction of
Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
Pallbearers were his nephews, Spence Gilbreath, Ed Wilson, Clark Wilson,
Virgil Fusselman, Arval Fusselman, and Roy Spears.
The survivors are his wife, Mrs Lillie Smith of the home, three sons, Russell
Smith, Siloam Springs; Ernest Smith, Tulsa; Harold Smith, Oklahoma City; four
grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs Emma Fusselman, Bentonville AR; Mrs Ad Cabe,

the son of Thomas and Sarah McCuistion. He was married to Miss Audrey
May Smith of Cincinnati, Ark., August 2, 1908. To this union was born
Howard Raymond McCuistion. They established their first home west of
Cincinnati, where they lived for eight years, later moving to
Cincinnati, where they bought a home and lived until they moved to
Westville in 1924.
While in Cincinnati, Mr. McCuistion, in addition to his farming
activities, owned and operated a general mercantile store. After
moving to Westville, he continued his farming. He served on the City
Council as Mayor of Westville for several years and was elected County
Commissioner of Adair County by the people of this district of which
he served eight years. Keenly feeling he was a servant of the people,
and as such he was known for his honesty and integrity.
Mr. McCuistion joined the Methodist church in Cincinnati 40 years
ago and transferred his membership to the Westville Methodist church
in 1924. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge at Cincinnati, for
forty years.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts
Funeral Home. Graveside service was in charge of the Masonic Lodge of
Cincinnati.
Active pallbearers were nephews: Russell Smith, Siloam Springs, Ark.,
Edgar Wilson of Tulsa, Lawrence Giles, Missouri, Carl Ezell and Orvil
Fusselman, Farmington, Ark., and his son-in-law, Evan Thompson, Big
Springs, Texas. Flower bearers were, Beverly Thompson, Martha Jo Davis,
Glenda Ezell, Lois Crudup, Wanda Faye Cantrell and Velma Fusselman.
The survivors include his wife, Audrey May of the home; a son, Howard
McCuistion of Tracy, Calif.; two granddaughters, Mrs. Beverly Joan
Thompson of Big Spring, Texas, Mrs. Wilma Jean Hirsch of Princeton, New
Jersey; three great-granddaughters, Karen Rae, Linda Kay and Julie Mae
Thompson, Big Spring, Texas; a brother, J.H. McCuistion of Siloam
Springs, several nieces and nephews.

Matilda D Bryant, was born on February 1, 1887 near Cincinnati, Arkansas.
Was married to Cullen Bryant January 20, 1907, who preceded her in death
on June 25, 1938. She leaves two children, Wm. Bryant of Watts and Marie
Daniels of Heavener, 3 grandchildren, 3 sisters, and one brother. She was
converted and joined the Baptist Church to which she was faithful member
until her death on April 24th. Rev. C.E. Hardy conducted the funeral
service, burial was made in Westville Cemetery.

and Chapter G, PEO. She was a volunteer for the Bread of Life. Her
husband, Jim Bryant, preceded her in death on April 14, 1999. Survivors
include one son and daughter-in-law, Jim Bryant and Debbie of Fort Smith;
one daughter and son-in-law, Sue Bolin and Sam of Springdale; six grand-
hildren; two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at
First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Orr and Rod Hocott
officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery under the direction of
Sisco Chapel of Springdale. Pallbearers will be Steve Brandt, Neal Brandt,

Virginia Harkey Hilton, age 84, formally of Little Rock, living in
Fayetteville, AR, died Monday, Jan 26, 2004. She was born in Plainview,
AR, to the late Opal Noel and Mary Leah Willson Harkey, later graduating
from Little Rock High School in 1936 and receiving her degree in English
from Hendrix College in 1940. She taught high school for two years in
Warren, Lake Village, and Hot Springs.
Mrs. Hilton was married in 1941 to Lydle C. Hilton, spending the World
War II years with him in various locations in this country, until he was
sent to the European Theatre Operations.
After teaching school she moved to San Francisco where she became
secretary to the president of Golden Gate College. From 1943-45, she
continued her secretary skills at the Pine Bluff Arsenal for the United
States Corps of Engineers. In 1950, she returned to Little Rock as a
secretary with the Department of Education, later working as secretary
at Olin Mathison Company, and as executive secretary to the president of
National Old Line Insurance Company. In 1965, she was nominated as
organizing chairman and then elected charter president of Executive
Secretaries International. This organization was later renamed Executive
Women International. After her retirement from NOLIC, she was honored
by, named and approved as a life member of the Little Rock Chapter of
Executive Women International. Until her death, Mrs Hilton oversaw the
family farming operations. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church
since the age of 14.
Virginia is survived by a daughter, Mary Hilton Charlton of
Fayetteville; and three grandchildren, Lea Hofheimer, Leslie Stigaard,
Nathan Charlton; and three great-grandchildren, Julia Hofheimer,
Nicholas Stigaard and Amanda Leah Stigaard. She was preceded in death by
a brother, James W. Harkey, who died in 1983.
There will be a graveside funeral service Thursday at 10 a.m. at the
Ola Sandlin Cemetery, Ola, AR, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m.
Thursday at Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock, followed by a
reception at the Fellowship Hall at the church. Arrangements are under

Samuel Jay Bolin II, 24, of Springdale died Jan. 13, 2007, in Perry,
N.Y. He was born Aug. 12, 1982, in Springdale to Samuel Jay and Karolyn
Sue Bryant Bolin. Jay graduated from Springdale High School in 2001,
and was a senior at Missouri Southern State University majoring in
psychology and Spanish. He was a member of the First United Methodist
Church in Springdale.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Kathleen Bryant.
He is survived by his parents, Sam and Sue Bolin of Springdale; one
sister, Betsy Wright and husband Jason of Springdale; his grandparents,
Roy and Frances Bolin of Gentry and fiancee, Millie Roberson and her
son Matthew.

Dr John L Stockton, 71, of Siloam Springs, died Dec 18, 1989. He was
born March 11, 1918 in Siloam Springs, the son of John L Stockton Sr
and Nola Smith Stockton and had been a lifelong resident.
He practiced dentistry for 43 years in Siloam Springs before retiring
Feb 1. He was a graduate of the University of Kansas City Dental School.
He served five years during World War II as a Navy dentist stationed
with Marine aviation units in the South Pacific. He wa awarded the Silver
Star, the highest medal given to a Navy dentist during the war,for
heroism at Guadalcanal. He was a retired Captain in the Navy Reserves.
A member of the First United Methodist Church of Siloam Springs, he was
a past president of the Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club
and a former president of the Northwest Arkansas Dental Association. A
32nd degree Mason, he was a former commander of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars and a former member of the Siloam Springs City Council. He had been
a licensed amateur radio operator since 1932.
Stockton was also chairman of the board of Liberty Savings and Loan in
Siloam Springs for 20 years, before it was sold to First Federal of
Fayetteville.
He is survived by his wife, Bitsy Holcombe Stockton of the home, two
sons, Jim Stockton and Stan Stockton, both of Harrison; sister Luanne
Selby of Tulsa; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today, Dec 21, in Wasson Memorial Chapel,
with the Rev Philip Hathcock officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill
Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home.

Martha Alice "Bitsy" Stockton, age 88, of Siloam Springs, passed away
Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. The daughter
of James Neville and Martha Ellen (Treadway) Holcombe, she was born Dec.
6, 1922. She graduated from Dumas High School and Hendrix College, and
taught American history in high school in Gould and Dumas before marrying
Dr. John L. Stockton, a dentist from Siloam Springs, after World War II.
For several decades Bitsy was the Welcome Wagon Hostess in Siloam Springs,
and greeted hundreds of families who moved to the community over the years.
In the process, she made thousands of friends. A former recipient of the
Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce's Pioneer Citizen Award, she chaired
the search committee for the award in recent years and was honored for her
service at the Chamber's 2011 banquet.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her sister-in-law, Luanne
Stockton Selby, and her parents.
Bitsy is survived by her sons, Jim Stockton and his wife, Gail, and Stan
Stockton and his wife, Rita, of Harrison; five grandchildren, Kevin
Stockton and his wife, Jennifer, and their children, Katie and Michael, of
Harrison; Jamie Stockton and his wife, Mandy, of Germantown, Tenn; Kari
Stockton of Tulsa, Okla; Brian Warner and his wife, Stephanie, and their
children, Hunter, Dane, and Chance, of Harrison; and Jon Warner and his
daughter, Eliana, of Harrison.
There will be a memorial service at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 27, at the
First United Methodist Church in Siloam Springs, with Pastor Randy Rowlan
officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 26, at Wasson
Funeral Home in Siloam Springs. Memorials may be made to the United

Tulsa OK--Luanne Stockton Selby, 74, of Tulsa, died Monday at her home.
She was born July 18, 1930, to Nola and John Stockton Sr. She was a
former resident of Siloam Springs and a 1947 graduate of Siloam Springs
High School.
She attended John Brown University and graduated from Hendrix College
in Conway. She was a retired teacher and taught in Tulsa and Gentry. She
was preceded by brother, Dr. John Stockton of Siloam Springs.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Bitsy Stockton of Siloam Springs;
two nephews, Jim and Stan Stockton of Harrison; great-nieces and nephews.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Asbury Methodist Church in Tulsa.
Graveside service is 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam
Springs. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Southlawn

VINETA MAE ROGERS 84 of Siloam Springs, AR passed away on Monday, Sept.
20, 2011 at the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, AR.
Mrs. Rogers was born Aug. 9, 1927 in Ft. Scott, KS; she was the daughter
Roy and Lida Pryor. She married Glenn Rogers in Ft. Scott, KS in 1945.
Vineta worked several years at the Arkansas State Bank and as the book-
keeper for KUOA Radio. She could read music as well as play by ear.
Vineta had played the organ for First Christian Church in Siloam Springs
and Northvail Baptist Church in Harrison, AR.
Survivors include daughter Rita Stockton & husband Stan of Harrison, AR;
grandchildren Kevin Stockton & wife Jennifer of Harrison, AR and Kari
Stockton of Tulsa, OK; 2 great-grandchildren Michael & Katie Stockton of

Bailey Woods is the 13 year old daughter of David and Karen Woods of
Siloam Springs and the granddaughter of Dean and Ruth Davis and the late
Maxine Davis and Bob and Virginia Woods. She is in the eighth grade and is
an honor roll student at Siloam Springs Middle School. She is a member of
the Siloam Springs Riding Club, Student Council, Beta Club, eighth grade
basketball, eighth grade vollyball, Heat Summer basketball, American
Quarter Horse Youth Association, National Barrel Horse Association and
First Baptist Church of Siloam Springs.
Her hobbies and interests include softball, baskball and, most of all,
barrel racing.

Maxine Davis, 76, of Siloam Springs died Monday, Jan 1, 1996 in Tulsa OK
nursing facility. Born Aug 12, 1919 she was the daughter of Dr J.E. and
Sadie A (Young) Mickel and was a life resident of Siloam Springs. She was
a Golden Member of Siloam Springs Riding Club and a member of the First
Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her son Jack Eldridge in 1962
and a brother Harold Mickel in Nov 1995.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherri Davis of Tulsa OK and Karen Woods
of Siloam Springs; two grandchildren, Kari McReynolds and Bailey Woods of
Siloam Springs; one brother Don Mickel of Adair OK; and one sister, Bettie
Murphy of Siloam Springs.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Thursday, Jan 4, 1996 at the Wasson
Funeral Home with Rev Ronnie Bradshaw officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with arrangements under the
direction of Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs AR.

Colcord OK--Betty Ruth Davis, 75, of Colcord died April 18, 2004 at
Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. She was born July 12, 1928, in
Marble City OK to Peugent Evans and Elsie Pope Evans Lindgren. She married
Samuel Dean Davis on March 20, 1988. She was a beautician, a homemaker and
enjoyed cooking. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Siloam
Springs OK.
Survivors include her husband Dean Davis of Colcord; three daughters,
Connie Harrington of West Siloam Springs, Sherri Davis of Tulsa OK and
Karen Woods of Siloam Springs; one brother Johnny Lindgren of Siloam
Springs; four granddaughters; one great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2pm Wednesday at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in
Siloam Springs with the Rev Brad Jinks officiting. Burial will follow in
Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8pm today at the funeral
home.

SILOAM SPRINGS -- Samuel "Dean" Davis, 80, of Siloam Springs died Sept.
24, 2008, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born March 9, 1928,
in Siloam Springs to Gordon Davis and Sybil Patience McClain Davis. He
attended Siloam Springs High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean
War and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was retired from
the Siloam Springs Postal Service and was a farmer. He was a member of
Siloam Springs Riding Club, Cincinnati Mason Lodge and Calvary Baptist
Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Davis, and his son, Jack
Douglas Eldridge.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherri Dean Davis of Tulsa, Okla., and
Karen Jeane Davis of Siloam Springs; three sisters, his twin, Jeane
Reading of Springfield, MO, Pat Pike of Siloam Springs and Bettye Brenner
of Fayetteville; his brother, Don Davis of Lamar; two granddaughters, Kari
Dean McReynolds and Bailey Alexandra Woods, both of Siloam Springs.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam
Springs, online at www.wassonfuneralhome.com. The Rev. Ronnie Bradshaw and
Ron Reading will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Virgil L. Reading, 80, of Springfield, MO, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004,
in his home. He was born Dec. 5, 1923, in Gentry to Marion and Valla
Reading. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas, and prior to
his retirement worked in management for Kraft for 32 years. He was a
member of Southgate Baptist Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran or World
War II. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers,
Charlie and Gene. He is survived by his wife, Jeane, whom he married
April 4, 1947; one son, Ron and his wife, Margie, of Van Buren; one
daughter, Sharon Fine of Springfield, MO; four grandchildren, Brad Fine,
David Reading and his wife, Tesha, Michael Reading and DeeDee Reading;
and two brothers, Paul Reading of Siloam Springs and Garian Reading of
Fayetteville.
Services were help Tuesday at Greenlawn Funeral Home South with Nolan
Carrier officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery near Gentry.
Memorials may be made to Southgate Baptist Church.

Church of Northwest Arkansas in Lowell.
Bohannan is the daughter of Brenda and Mike Bohannan of Springdale.
She is the granddaughter of Freida and Kenneth Hughes of Springdale and
Charles Bohannan of Conway and the late Elda Bohannan.
She plans to graduate in May from the University of Arkansas in
Fayetteville, with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She is
a 2002 graduate of Springdale High School.
Reading is the son of Margie and Ron Reading of Van Buren. He is the
grandson of Emma Jean Reading of Springfield MO and the late Virgil
Reading, and the late Anne and Phillip Fontaine.
He is a case manager at Wal-Mart Stores claims management in Rogers.
He is a 2005 graduate of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia,
with a bachelor's degree in biblical studies, and a 2001 graduate of
Van Buren High School.

Amber Nicole Bohannan of Springdale and Michael Phillip Reading of Van
Buren were married at 7 p.m. June 9, 2006, at Fellowship Bible Church
in Lowell. The groom's father, Ronald Reading, officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Brenda and Mike Bohannan of Springdale.
She is the granddaughter of Freida and Kenneth Hughes of Springdale,
Charles Bohannan of Conway and the late Elda Bohannan
The groom is the son of Margie and Ron Reading of Van Buren. He is
the grandson of Jeane Reading of Springfield, Mo., the late Virgil
Reading and the late Nancy and Phillip Fontaine.
The bride wore a gown of white satin with a square neckline, dropped
waist and a chapel train. The strapless bodice included silver
embroidery and silver and crystal beading. The full skirt featured box
pleats, diamond-shaped medallions, beading and embroidery. She carried
a bouquet of hydrangeas, antique roses, cabbage roses and ranunculus
of pink, mint and muted tangerine.
Diana Newman of Springdale was maid of honor, and the bride's cousin,
Kimberly Brown of Springdale, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were the
groom's sisters-in-law, Dee Dee Reading of Van Buren and Tesha Reading
of Fayetteville; Erin Cross and Sarah Cross, both of Bentonville; Katy
Carver of Springdale; and Cassie Keen of Farmington. Junior bridesmaids
were Morgan Hughes and Jessica Hughes.
David Reading of Fayetteville served his brother as best man. Groomsmen
were Joel Winters of Conway; Daniel McPherson of Little Rock; Will Tommey
and Justin Bourton, both of Van Buren; Brad Fine of Venice, Calif., the
groom's cousin; Jason Lankford of Little Rock; and Chad Lee of Van Buren.
Tristen Porter was flower girl, and Jared Hughes was ring bearer.
Josh Bailey, John Myal, Grant Harrison and Blake Hughes seated guests.
Kailee Bohannan and Sheena Sullivan attended the guest book.
Music was provided by vocalists Joel Winters and Morgan Jessup; Jeff
Hughes and Greg Hughes, the bride's uncles; and Kenneth Hughes, the

A reception was held at the Springdale Country Club. After a wedding
trip to the Mexican Riviera, the couple live in Fayetteville.
The bride is a graduate student at the University of Arkansas in
Fayetteville, and the groom is a claims adjuster for Wal-Mart Stores.

Gordon Davis, lifetime resident of Siloam Springs, died Thursday morning at
the Washington County Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville AR after an
extended illness.
Davis was born Feb 21, 1897, near Siloam Springs. He was a retired farmer and
member of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: his wife Sybil of the home; two sons, Dean Davis of Siloam
Springs and Don Davis of Decatur; three daughters, Mrs Pat Pike of Siloam
Springs, Mrs Jeane Reading of Springfield MO, and Mrs Betty Savage of Siloam
Springs; two brothers, Garland Davis of Siloam Springs and Denton Davis of
St Helens OR; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 pm, Sunday June 30 at the Pyeatte Chapel with
Jim Voth officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction

Memorial services were held for Faynell Smith Hill at the Center for
Spiritual Living in San Jose, Calif. on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000. Faynell
was born Aug. 30, 1926 to Melvin and Edna Jackson Smith in Cincinnati,
Ark. and departed this life Sept. 1, 2000 at the age of 74 years and 2
days at her home in San Jose, Calif. Faynell was married to Cleburn F
"Sweed" Hill in Jan. 1946. He preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1998.
She is survived by one son Rodney; one grandson Rodney Jr; two grand-
daughters, Mamie and Erin; three great-grandchildren, all of Calif; one
brother, Billy Jack; and sisters-in-laws, Venice, Kitty, and Pauline, all
of Okla. Faynell touched the lives of those who knew her through her faith
and love for God. She was a gracious leader of P.E.O. Women's society and
an active member and contributor to the Center for Spiritual Living for
forty years.

Billy Jack Smith was born in Cincinnati, Ark, on Dec. 25, 1929, to Melvin
and Edna (Jackson) Smith. He attended school at Old Union until the family
moved to Westville, Okla, when he was nine years old. On moving day, they
milked the cows in the morning in Arkansas, and Billy drove the cattle, on
horseback to the family farm, south of Westville for the evening milking.
He graduated from Westville High School. He married the love of his life,
Barbara Vernice Bowles, on May 9, 1947, in Tahlequah, Okla. To this union,
son Jackie Smith and daughter Barbara Smith were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Shirley (Smith)
Brakefield, Faynell (Smith) Hill, and infant sister. He began working as a
lineman for Ozarks Electric on Feb. 2, 1948, and retired from Ozarks on
April 24, 1992, as manager of the Westville office. He volunteered as time
keeper at the Old Settlers Rodeo and contact for the carnival at the town
picnic. He was well known as a community leader, 32nd Degree Mason,
volunteer fire chief for many years, president of community club and was
instrumental in getting a medical center and doctor for Westville. He
helped establish the first school Quarterback Club and was the first
president, serving many years in that capacity. He was well known for his
response of being "tolerable", working for Ozarks Electric for 44 years,
2 months and 22 days before retiring. He was on the Peoples Bank Board of
Directors and looked forward to his daily stops in the bank when he was
still driving.
He attended Westville First United Methodist Church. He was known for his
humor and smile. His hobbies included bird hunting, cattle ranching and
keeping meticulous records.
He leaves behind his wife, Vernice Smith, of the home; son, Jackie Smith
and wife, Pam, of Baron; daughter, Barbara Smith, of Westville; mother-in-
law, Marie Bowles, of Siloam Springs, AR; grandchildren, Marty Hern and
wife, Christy, Nathan Smith and wife, Jenifer, all of Westville, and Kelly
Hern Kirby and husband, Tim Kirby, of Springdale, AR; great grandchildren,
Kelsi Kirby, Hunter Hern, Piper Smith, Emery Smith and Braxton Kirby;
nephew, Rod Hill, of San Jose, CA and a host of friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at Hart
Memorial Chapel with Bro. Darell Maddox officiating. Interment will follow
at Westville City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of
Westville.
