This is a Collection of
Various Rhodes, that may in the future
be tied to our Rhodes/White lineage, SC to GA

This is William Rhodes # 1

From Edgefield County South Carolina

This is for Record only, this may or may NOT be OUR WILLIAM:

There is much controversy over the Wm Rhodes's, in all probability they are related to our Rhodes lineage, but at this time, to my knowledge, nobody has solved the riddle of which Wm Rhodes, belongs to which family.

Below is the will of a Wm Rhodes living in Edgefield Co SC, with all its original spelling, the will was written in 1827 and filed in 1834.  This is significant in that Edgefield Co or Old 96th or what ever this area was before the SC/GA borders were re-aligned, once encompassed parts of Georgia, and Richmond Co GA, where our Rhodes settled:

NOTE: It is said that our William Rhodes, died in 1788, if in fact, this is true, this will
eliminate the above Wm Rhodes from our list of possibilities.

This is the Official 'South Carolina Indented Certificate form, Most cannot
be read, but can see Wm Rhodes, name, basically, it states what as been
said above, and pays Wm Rhodes for his service in the Rev. War.

Page 5:

There are '2' entries on this page, they both involve Land or Grants, the 1st I can only read 'Received 16 Day 1885 from the....Land... L20.4.1  (Sorry) Signed Wm Rhodes.

2nd entry - Page is very difficult to read, I think Wm Rhodes is being granted land once granted to a Henry? Parkman or granting him, one hundred and nineteen acres, at the end of the entry is: L2.15.6  and is signed by Wm Rhodes, very poor copy and cannot make out most of the wording... Will try to get this updated at some point...

Summary:

No Location in SC is mentioned or I haven't found it yet, the copies are very poor. I will not go into this Wm Road's to much, I feel this one is not related, on all 6 pages, he is referred to as Road, Roads, However, where it is required for Wm to sign himself, only one place, it appears he signed as: William Rhode & may an 's', could be Rhode or Rhodes.

This Wm Rhode (Road), is paid for providing food; Cattle, flour etc, to General Henderson and General Picken's troops, all transactions taking place in 1782.

William Rhode (s) signs, off that he is satisfied with the payment 20 June 1786.
