Desoto Bend Wild Life Refuge
Cedar Waxwings - Adults & Juveniles
(Aug 30, 2015)
They usually migrate from the
North in late August to the south, I have not seen a large flock of them at
Desoto Bend WLR since
the first few days of September, but only a few individuals. With the extended
summer heat wave, and some berries left over may
explain, why a few are still within the refuge. This year, I observed the
flocks gathering in August, in late evening, 6:30/7pm, at the refuge.
Up until the middle of August , I had not seen them gather in such large groups,
only individuals, this could be migratory behavior.
