West Expansion Map 1815 - 1845

Roads 1815 - 1850

South Carolina to Texas - Houston Co and
Nacogdoches area

Next 3 Maps are Old San Antonio Road, this is
probably the road
Stephen White used to get to Houston Co TX, 1836, Trammels Trace
connected to this road from Bowie Co TX, SAR crossed right into
Crockett Houston Co TX.

Old San Antonio Road

Old San Antonio Road

Texas 1836 - Year Stephen White arrived in Houston Co TX
was 1st called Mustang Prairie, Houston Co was cut from
Nacogdoches in 1837.

1836 Map below - Year Stephen
White arrived, however, it shows Nacogdoches and Crocket Houston Co where
Stephen lived
near in 1836, Lewis Bobo arrived in Crocket prior to 1850 Census, and lived here
until his death in the Civil War.

Below map shows the beginning of Old San
Antonio trail that ran from Natchitoches LA into TX through Nacogdoches TX
then through what was to become Houston Co (Part of Nacogdoches Co TX) in 1837),
ran through the town of Crockett.
There is no doubt that Stephen White used this section of the trails, when he
left Lowndes Co AL in 1836, to arrive in TX same year.
And if Stephen or Elias White wanted to visit each other, they would have used
this trail connecting at Nacogdoches TX to Trammels Trace.

Below is a 2 part map, showing
Trammels Trace in Red River Texas, part of which became Bowie Co TX, the trail
was in
the Texarkana / Red Water area, where Elias and Ben White and families arrived
in 1846. It was said in family lore, that
their original destination was Houston Co TX to meet up with Stephen White,
Trammels Trace, ran right down to
Nacogdoches Co TX, where they would have hooped on Old San Antonio's trail that
ran straight into Crocket in Houston Co TX.
A route I am sure, Lewis Bobo, who came to Texas with the White's, took to get
to Crocket Houston Co TX prior to 1850 census.

East Side of this map is of interest between
Houston/Nacogdoches and Bowie County and Trammels Trace that connectes
these counties together.  I would bet Elias White and or Stephen White paid
each other visits ... Elias was right off this road
in Bowie County, and from Nacogdoches TX would connect a short distance on the
Old San Antonio Trail, that lead right
into Crockett Houston Co TX, Stephen White had a Lumber and Grist mill east of
Crockett for some time.
