Service Held Monday For Elizabeth I. Meixner, 82

Graveside services were held Monday, Aug 28, at Rest Haven Cemetery for Elizabeth Irene Meixner, 82. Charlie Barnes officiated at the service.

Mrs. Meixner passed away August 26th in Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.

She was born June 10, 1918 in Maude, Texas and was married to Walter Leo Meixner on July 23, 1988 in Menard. Mr Meixner preceded his wife in death.

She was a member of the Baptist church and was a housewife.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Ralph Hanna of Menard; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Elfrieda Sanders of Austin; four grandchildren and their spouses, David and Dorothy Hanna of Kerrville, Danny and Donna Hanna of Austin, Judy and Steve Waldrop of Temple, and Carla and Bruce Copp of Houston; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, frances Martin of Killeen; and several nieces and nephews.

Irene married Dorman Zephra Sanders and had two children with him. Dorman died in 1979.

Irene married Beeler Grandson Powell on January 08, 1980. Beeler died September 19, 1984.

Irene married last to Walter Leo Meixner on July 23, 1988. Walter died a year earlier than Irene on May 08, 1999.

I was looking through the Menard, Texas Site and ran onto an obit that gives us a little bit more information on one of James Madison and Nettie Baggett's daughters. I think I gave you what I had on my aunt Irene Baggett who first married Dorman Sanders. I knew Dorman before he died but never knew her other husband or husbands.

SERVICES HELD FOR BEELER POWELL, 73
     Services were held at 2 p.m. on September 21 for Beeler Grandson Powell 73. Br. William Williams officiated at the service at Mission Funeral Chapel with internment at Resthaven Cemetery.

     Mr. Powell passed away at 1:30 a.m. on September 19th at Menard Hospital.
BornJune 30, 1911 in Erath County, he was a lifetime resident of Menard County. He was a member of 1st Christian Church and was a plumber. He was a vet of WWII having served in the Air force.

     He was married to Irene Baggett on January 8, 1980. He is survived by his wife, Irene Powell of Menard, one son, Robert Sanders of Austin, one daughter Dorothy Hanna of Menard, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, one sister, Lois Hollander of Corpus Christi, one brother, Miles Powell of Rule, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Harvey Carriger, Ray McGuffin, Melvin Swindall, Clay Wagner, Stanley Frazier and Jerry Ramsey.

     I think I told you that Irene is dead now too and I guess is buried at Resthaven Cemetery in Menard Texas. Her daughter Dorothy Jo died a couple of years back too. I guess her son is still living.

Walter Meixner

MENARD - Walter Leo Meixner, 73, died Saturday, May 8, 1999, in a San Angelo hospital.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home.

He was born April 12, 1926, in Menard County and had been a lifetime resident. He was a laborer in the oilfields.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Meixner of Menard; three sisters, Nell Bowers and Lois Wilkinson, both of Menard, and Jessie Stoddard of Andrews; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Hanna of Menard; stepson, Robert Sanders of Austin; four step-grandchildren; four great-step-grandchildren; a great-great-step- grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
