Estate of John Bullington of
Lauderdale AL
Administrations and Appraisals
Note from
descendant David Bullington: 2/20/2018
"I am fairly sure I have the Lauderdale County property location plotted
out on a map for the land John Bullington was in the process of buying
(note the discusson in his recorded estate filings that there were land
subscription certificates). Land at this time was sold on a credit
basis. What I saw in Limestone County of this process suggests that
properties were occupied by the subscriber for years before actual title
being obtained often 20 or 30 years later. The other occurence that
happened was for the $1 an acre or so down payment made sometimes being
applied to a smaller subset of the originally subscribed acreage so that
such portion could be deeded and sold or passed to heirs. This seems to
be what was happening in the administration of the John Bullington
estate." |
