The story & history of the church can be found across the street in the New Boston Public Library, much is written there about our Tapps. Jennie Tapp, was the youngest of the Tapp children, of Charles & Mary White Tapp (Mary the daughter of Elias White). Jennie was born near Maud Bowie Co TX, 23 Feb 1858 and departed this life, 18 May 1932, and is buried at the Read Hill Cemetery New Boston TX, she was the last child of her direct line. She is remembered for her devotion to her Christ, and contributions to her community, its people, and educational institutions. The Tapp Memorial Church, is named in honor of her untiring devotion to its success in the New Boston Community. There is also a local Park named the "Tapp Park", in honor of the Tapp family, for their contribution of the land that made the park possible. The Tapp family & Jennie gave generously to other churches and communities, the above to name only a few. It needs to be said that many others participated with the Tapp's, in making its community projects become reality, but none so generously as the Tapp family. Miss Jennie Tapp's devotions, have been demonstrated time and again down the old family tree, Tapp's as well as the White's, never seeking to get rich, and always returning to their communities, the benefits that have been bestowed upon them through a life time. These pioneering traits are deep rooted from centuries past, and are the foundation our nation was built upon. "Bless them all..." |
