Note: This Joseph/Solomon connection is controversial among Osborn Researchers. Some Prevailing Theories - One thing is for sure, they are all related to each other, and anyone of them seems plausible. Some researchers believe of Joseph Osborn; 1) That he was one of the younger children of Robert Osborn and Ann Howard of Ashe County, North Carolina, 2) Some think that he may have been the oldest child of Robert Osborn Jr. and Elizabeth Lapan. 3) Still others believe that he was the son of Solomon Osborn and Mary Stewart and, therefore, the grandson of Hannah Boone Stewart Pennington. 4) Another is Joseph Osborn's father was a Stephen > Ephraim connection. 5) The 1810 Barren Co KY census shows Joseph living in between two Robert Osborn's... It could be that Joseph was the Youngest, and did not know his father or remember him, but remembered his older brother, and thus, they names children Solomon...
