Isaac says Robert White born 1743, Mrs. Perry White Book Jan 27, 1743,
SC Bible Records, Feb 9, 1743, Obit. 100yrs-10mo-11days, Grave=100yrs-9 1/2mo.,
and remember Subtract 11 days for the 1752 British Calendar Change!

Using Age Calculator = Feb 6, 1743 "-" 11 days = Jan 27, 1743, Mrs. White is correct!

ISAAC PEARSON MURPHY, a short Biography:
(Provide by a Murphy descendant, Betty Barrow)

Isaac Pearson Murphy, son of Sion III & Susannah (White) Murphy, born 20 Aug 1798 Cross Keys Union SC, USA;  died 2 July 1886 Cross Keys, Union South Carolina, USA.  He married 4 Oct 1838, Union, SC, USA to Sarah Pearson Hamilton, they had one child. Sarah & their daughter died early, Isaac never remarried.

Isaac was buried at Padgett Creek Baptist Church in Union Co, SC, USA, July 1886, lies next to his sister, Sylvia Murphy, who cared for him, in later years, brother Jason Wiley and his wife Nancy White Murphy are also near by.

Cross Keys, Union Co SC, was Isaac's last known residence, and place of birth.

He was a member of the Padgett's Creek Baptist Church, for much of this childhood, but attended the Lower Fairforest Baptist Church in Union Co, most of his adult Christian years. This membership lasted for 68 years, he served the church in several capacities while a member, including deacon, and was a part of numerous committees.

Isaac Pearson Murphy wrote letters describing the families of his Murphy line, and also, the White line, from which his mother Susan White Murphy, was a part, the letters have proven to be invaluable over the years, without these letters I cannot imagine where we would be today, the letters have helped sort out which 'White's' belonged to who, there is no doubt in my mind, that without these letters, we would not have been able to accurately identify Robert White Sr's family.  Along with letters written by Isaac's siblings, offer confirmations of the White connection.

Isaac P. Murphy and his sister, Sylvia K. Murphy lived together after the War (Civil War), which "spoiled" their money, Sylvia lost her parents Estate. From letters written by Isaac, in his advanced years, he seemed to suffer from arthritis, as he was quoted as saying, "if he stirred around in the cold, I soon get full of cricks and ketches and my limbs from my hips down being weak and easily tired, and of late seem to have gone into a settled soreness".  In 1876, he was weighing 197 lbs., but still tending to the farm, raising crops of cotton, wheat, and oats.  In a letter written by Jason Wiley Murphy in 1879, he stated "both I. P. and Sister Silvia was up but both feeble and Isaac can't see much, having to put up with work as he can get it."  In a letter written by Isaac in April 1883, he stated that "I don't pretend to walk without my stick even across the floor." Isaac P. Murphy was said, by a descendant, to be blind the last four years of his life, we are told my Mr. Richard Dewey Murphy age 87 of Union Co., SC (1996).

Isaac P. Murphy was the Administrator of his father, Sion Murphy's estate in 1845.  He purchased several articles including "a lot of books and a slate."  He seemed to be the one the others turned to for advice. Was the oldest of 10 siblings.

Information taken from Isaac P. Murphy's letters: Union County Heritage 1981; History of Padgett's Creek Church; Bible records; census records; letters from Isaac P. Murphy and Jason Wiley Murphy owned by Vickie Devlin, Norcross, GA.
