Question and Comments as to Why and how can we match with male Y-Chrom markers of Non-White Surnames? Just Thoughts (Seay, Durham, Sorrell, Smith, Talley, Thurman) 1. The Method of Testing? 2. A Name change? but why all the different surnames? 3.  Were we part of a CLAN in the motherland with a 4. Illegitimate Child? again, why all of the surnames? 5.  Adopted or cared for because of a parental loss? 6.  Theory of Convergence, ie, 2
different surnames Note: (Dec 2013) Notes from Deborah Parks: Suggested by Deborah Parks, makes more since than the rest, disease in early times, here and abroad, caused most deaths, Deb, brings to light as an example, James Town VA, where 3 out of 4 people died of disease, and their children dispersed to families, who may have lost children, if not all of their children to illness. These Surnames listed have one thing in common, Hanover VA, and probably, surrounding counties, that sprang after the dividing of a larger county, such as New Kent county, from which Hanover was born... Now, what does this mean? "Birds of a feather flock Together", they all migrated from the Motherland together or at different intervals? had at one time been related via a Clan? The dominant male theory? Other suggestions welcome...

																	Notes
																	from Robert
																	Talley:

																	     A lady
																	named Gerry
																	Hunt is
																	researching
																	the
																	White-Talley
																	relationship.
																	One
																	thing that I
																	noticed was
																	the Hanover,
																	Virginia
																	census for
																	1810 listing
																	Barrot(sp)
																	White
																	neighbor to
																	a
																	Talley, Gerry's
																	ancestor had
																	White as
																	middle name.

																	     My DNA
																	finding
																	places my
																	family in
																	the Line of
																	William
																	Pettypool. The
																	Talley's and
																	Pettypools
																	were
																	associated
																	from at
																	least
																	1710-1830's.

																	     Another
																	thought on
																	the
																	diversity of
																	surnames in
																	a DNA group
																	is the
																	concept of
																	the timeline
																	of surname
																	origin. This
																	time is
																	estimated at
																	1100. The
																	crusades
																	spread
																	"families"
																	over a
																	broader area
																	and I
																	imagine this
																	might be a
																	factor in
																	DNA-surname
																	misalignment.

																	     Lastly,
																	the
																	fragility
																	of marriage
																	as sacred
																	may be a
																	factor in
																	groups of
																	people in
																	community
																	whose
																	relationships
																	are not
																	predictable.
