Hi Mike,

I may have identified Luther as well as the unidentified pictures of the man, woman, two boys, and white dog. Okey, here goes. Hope this makes sense.

John G White (1855 - ), son of Benjamin Jackson White, was married to Samantha E ??. I believe that Luther is John's son.

1. Luther White, age 9, dob Sep 1890, is listed on the 1900 Grayson, Texas census as the nephew of Arch R and Lucinda (Louisa) White Conner.

2. Found death certificate for John Luther White, dob 21 Sep 1890, Grayson County, Texas. DOD 1 Nov 1944. Father listed as John White. Mother listed as Mattie Stafford. (Could this be nickname for Samantha?) He was night watchman for Dellone Construction in Dallas, Texas. Accidental death by gunshot due to dropped gun. Informant was Bessie White, wife. (Her name was Bessie Jane Holbert)

3. They had a daughter, Mattie Louise White, in 1910 and a son, George L White in 1920.


Pictures of man, woman, and two sons with names of William Homer and J D White. I believe the man is William Homer White, Sr. Also son of John G White. I believe that he may have been the one that stayed with Charles T and Addie White sometime between 1900 and 1910.

1. There is a William White, age 14, listed on 1900 Grayson County, Texas census as an orphan. Also listed is Herbert White, age 17 and Minnie White, age 10. All three are living with John S and Eliza J Dickey. They are both in their 60's. I believe all three are children of John G White. Unable to find more info on Herbert or Minnie.

2. Death certificate for William Homer White, Sr lists DOB as 15 Apr 1884 and DOD as 4 Jul 1952. Married and owner of Dress Shop. Wife, Ola Gertrude Scuddy White. Father, John White: Mother, Mattie Stafford. Residence as Dallas, Dallas, Tx.

3. William Homer and Ola Gertrude White had two sons, William Homer White, Jr (22 Aug 1916 - 21 Jan 1980) and J D White (1914 - ) (These are the names of two children in the pictures).

**Note: It is apparent he received his Inheritance from his grand fathers estate, Elias White, 100 acres...

     "We, the undersigned heirs at law of Elias White, deceased, of Bowie County, State of Texas, agree to the foregoing partition and distribution of the lands as if the same was made by order of court:

Lot 1 on map shall be the property of Mary Caroline Smith;
Lot 2 we assign to the heirs of John White;
Lot 3 we assign to Jane Landrum;
 Lot 4 we assign to the heirs of Benj. White;
Lot 5 we assign to the heirs of WM. White;
Lot 6 & 7 we assign to the heirs of Jeremiah Bobo;

WHITE, J. D., was born May 4, 1914 in Thorndale, Texas and passed away October 13, 2002 in Dallas, Texas. Former Safeway Grocery Store Manager, owner of Whites Drive-In Grocery, and retired as a tax appraiser for the city of Richardson, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary White, several nieces and nephews including Jayne Abbott, Janice Threatt, Gary Kofnovec, Roy Kofnovec and four legged companion Susie.

Rosary followed by funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2002 at Restland Abbey Chapel. Interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park.
