Grand Daughter.    

     Idyl Louise (Ray) Ashford is a descendant of Cader Atkins Parker and Louisa Candler (Beard) parker. Cader and Louisa's daughter, Missouri (Parker) Helms was Idyl's maternal grandmother. Idyl was a gifted pianist who also served her community as public school teacher, church organist, piano teacher, and correspondent for the Texarkana newspaper. She received a classical education as well as having earned a Master's Degree in Education from East Texas State College. She was a member of the DAR, Children of the Confederacy, and the Eastern Star. She was presented with numerous community service awards. She had two sons, five grandchildren, nine grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren as of March, 2011. She was admired and respected by all those who had the good fortune of knowing her. She was my beloved grandmother.

Know all men by these Presents

     That whereas John S. Herring Conveyed
the property hereinafter described in trust to Lee Morris  
late of Bowie County by Deed dated 28th Feb A. D. 1854
which was recorded in this office of the Clk of the 
Clerk of the County Court of said County on the 23 
day of March A. D. 1854, & which is fully explained
by Comparisons?, obligations executed by said Lee 
Morris on the said 28th of Feb A. D. 1854 & delivered
to said J. S. Herring & whereas the said L.? Morris 
departed this life without having executed said trust
& the said J. S. Herring having also departed this 
life long since. And whereas suit was instituted 
in this 7th of Jan A. D. 1872, by the heirs of said
Herring to have the said Trust carried out & have 
said lands in said deed & obligation mentioned, sold
for distribution among said heirs And whereas said 
Cause Comes in to be heard in the ??? District Court 
on the 28th of Oct A. D. 1874 And whereas by verdict of
the Jury and Decree of the said Court it was adjudged
& decreed that 1652 acres of land being the S. Part,
of the Head Right Survey of said J. S. Herring 
lying in said County about 8 Miles S. from the town of
Boston, the same being described & mentioned in said 
deed & Comparisons?, obligations was the property of
said heirs, And whereas, W. H. Tilson was their & there
appointed by said Court Trustee, to sell said land was 
credit of 12 months, at public Auction at the door
of the Court House in Boston in said County on the
1st Tuesday in Dec, inst, after giving true & legal
Notice of the time & place of said sale, and Whereas
notice had been giving in accordance with said
Judgment & Decree, by said W. H. Tilson as aforesaid
Trustee he the said Trustee did proceed to sell said
property in blocks of 200 acres or more to the 
highest bidder in a credit of 12 months at the door
of the Court House, in the town of Boston in
said County, within the lawful hours of sale on
the 1st Tuesday in Dec, A. D. 1874 where & where
the following block of 200 acres, ( the same being a part of
the 1652 acres above mentioned) was struck off to
Marion C. White, of said County of Bowie as the highest
& last bibber thereof at the price & sum of $200.00
for which the said White has executed & delivered to me
his certain promissory note with his sureties bearing 
even? date herewith the receipt whereof, is here by acknowledged
Now, therein I the said W. H. Tilson, Trustee as 
afore said by notice of the proceedings aforesaid and in
Consideration of the said sum of $200.00 have granted
bargained, sold & Conveyed & by these Presents do Grant,
bargain, sell & convey unto the said Marion C. White,
all the right title & interest which of said Judgment 
& Decree & the proceedings aforesaid I may or can Bar-
gain, sell or Convey, in & to the following described
tract, or parcel of land mentioned in said Judgment 
& Decree in wit:  A part of said John S. Herring Head
Right Survey, Situated in said Bowie County, about 8
Miles S. from the town of Boston, Beginning at a stake 
878.5 vrs E of the W. H. Corner, of Lot No. 4  Thence a
Black Oak brs. S. 11 W.  12 1/4 vrs  mkd  4. a P. O. mkd
5 brs. S. 86 E 7 1/4 vrs.  Thence E. 875.5 vrs, a stake,
Whence a Black Oak  mkd 5.  brs S. 81 W 6 1/4 & a P. 
mkd  6  brs. S. 47 1/2 E 12 1/4 vrs, Thence S. 1281  vrs a stake
Whence a P. O. mkd 5x  brs. N. 51 W 26 3/4 vrs & a B. O.
mkd 6x brs. N.10 E 18 1/2 vrs. Thence W. 878.5 vrs a stake
on the N. B. line of Lot No. 7. Whence a B. O. mkd 0x

Thence N. 1281 vrs to the place of Beginning, containing 
200 acres & R num as Lot No. 5.  Together with all & sin-
gular the rights numbers & appurtenances & the same
belonging or in anywise incident or appertaining, to
Have & to hold the said described premises unto the
said Marion C. White his heirs & assigns, forever in 
fer? Simple?.
In Witness Whereof I the said W. H. Tilson as
Trustee aforesaid, hereunto set my hand this the 1st of 
Dec, A.D. 1874.

     Before me Lewis Alexander, Clerk of the district Court,
in & this the County of Bowie Personally came W. H. 
Tilson, to me well known, by whom the forgoing Deed
bearing date 1st of Dec 1874, appears to have been
executed and acknowledged that He executed the same 
for the consideration & purposes therein stated.
     To all of which, I certify by hereto setting 
My hand officially with the Seal of my office hereon
impressed, This 24th of Dec, A.D. 1874.

That we W. A. Payne of said 
County and State and W. M. Campbell of the
County of Grayson in said State for in in
Consideration of the sum of Four Hundred 
dollars to us secured to be paid in hand
by Marion C. White of said County and State
as is evidenced by his promissory note
bearing even date with these presents and
due the 1st day of January, A. D. 1882 the
Mendors? lien being expressly retained to
secure the payment of the said note the receipt
of which said note is hereby acknowledged 
have this day bargained sold ???? conveyed
and released and do by these presents bargain
sell ???? convey unto the said M. C.
White all that tract or parcel of land
lying and being situated in said Bowie
County about 8 miles South East from 
Boston and known as a part of the Hd.
Right Survey of John S. Herring and as
Lot No. (1) one in the subdivision of said
original survey of said lands by Trustee
Tilson Deed to said W. A. Payne and W. M.
Campbell recorded in Book K? Page 399
of lands records of Bowie County Texas 
and more particularly described as follows
to wit; Beginning at a stake on the 
West boundary line of the said Jno. S.

1203 2/3 vrs a stake whence a pin oak

we hereby bind ourselves our heirs and 
legal representatives to forever warrant
and defend the title to the same against
the claim or claims of any and all persons
claiming the same or any part thereof 
by through or under us.
     In testimony of all of which we hereto
     set our hands this the 3rd day of 
     September A.D. 1877.
